10 Week Co-occurring Queer Teen & Parent Support Group
The Queer Teen Support Group will provide identity-affirming support, validation, guidance, and psychoeducation, while making room for new topics relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community each week. Topics will include: the wounds and joys of coming out, connecting with the queer community, navigating identity with extended family, and more.
Running at the same time, the Co-Occurring Support Group for the Parents of Queer Teens group will offer space for parents to ask questions and find community amongst other parents navigating how to support their children. Topics will include: “no stupid questions” sessions, how to advocate for your teen at school, promoting safety within the LGBTQIA+ community, and more.
As members of the LGBTQIA+ community, the group leaders, Bridget Carey, Frank Gruebel, and Josh Boscarino, are committed to forming safe spaces for queer teens and their parents who want to support them.
Bridget and Frank will be leading the Queer Teen Support Group (Wednesday: 5-6pm), while Bridget and Josh run the Co-Occuring Support Group for the Parents of Queer Teens (Mondays: 5:30-6:30).
