Erin Iwanusa, LCSW, PMH-C
Founder, Owner (She/ Her/ Hers) Erin has been a practicing clinician since 2010. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Erin has placed a strong emphasis over the course of her career on social work values, specifically on service and supervision. When Erin began Taproot Therapy in 2020, her goal was to make effective and evidence-based clinical care accessible for all by offering affordable services, as well as training the next generation of social workers and mental health clinicians. Erin has extensive experience working with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She is certified in perinatal mental health, specializing in infertility and pregnancy and infant loss. Erin is a Gottman Level 2 certified therapist providing couples therapy, and she teaches the Gottman method at training institutes in New York City. Erin has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, both evidence-based practices shown to support anxiety, mood regulation, eating disorders, and depressed symptoms. Erin has also had over 15 years of experience working with neurodiversity, and specializes in working with individuals, both adult and child, who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Erin provides parent training and therapy for parents with children diagnosed with ASD. Erin also specializes in working with adults diagnosed with ASD, and is adept at diagnosing subtle presentations of ASD in adulthood. Outside of Taproot Therapy, Erin has supervised and coached several clinicians and other group practice owners, both in helping set up their private practice, as well as providing high-quality, in-depth clinical supervision. Erin is also a writer, and the creator of The Miscarriage Therapist. |
Hannah Burke, LCSW
Psychotherapist Clinical Supervisor (She/ Her/ Hers) Hannah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. Hannah has experience working with clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, difficult family dynamics, difficulty with regulating emotions, and low self-esteem. She has experience working in different types of schools across the New York City region. Hannah utilizes evidence-based approaches by incorporating talk therapy, elements of CBT, DBT, play therapy, solution-focused, and psychodynamic approaches into sessions. She believes in exploring childhood experiences at the forefront, as they shape who you are. In doing so, this assists clients in navigating repressed emotions, which in turn impact current behaviors, feelings, communication, and relationships. Hannah believes in building strong relationships with her clients, which allows her to assist them in meeting their therapeutic goals. Hannah's sessions are client-centered, where building a strong therapeutic relationship assists clients in processing, confronting uncomfortable feelings, and changing unwanted behaviors. Ultimately, this approach empowers clients to make changes they see fit to thrive in all aspects of their lives. |
Meredith Weichert
Administrator (She/ Her/ Hers) Meredith is an undergraduate student at Elon University majoring in Psychology, with concentrations in Human Service Studies and Neuroscience. She is deeply committed to working with children and has diverse experience in caring for and guiding students across preschool, elementary, and after-school environments. Outside of her role, Meredith programs campus activities for Elon students and enjoys baking. |
